To promote NatGeo’s first investigative show in Latin America, we developed a microphone that tries to find if there’s truth behind what people say. The mic serves as a tool against the spread of fake news, enticing people to question unlikely statements. By analysing voice patterns and heart rates, the microphone indicates if interviewees are likely to speak truthfully. A built-in microcontroller captures the input and our software then analyses the statement on the spot. When the microphone lights up green, the interviewee is likely speaking truthfully. If a statement sounds like a lie, the microphone turns red, or yellow in case of uncertainty.
